To enroll in the program, you must register using our Registration Form and attend orientation. Our students are served on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, click here.

There is no set timeframe for completing your GED. EISD’s program is individualized to meet your specific needs. How long it takes will depend on several factors: your scores on the TABE test, how often you attend class, the quality of the work you do when you are present in class, your motivation to finish.

Regular attendance will ensure you reach your academic goals. Per our attendance policy, you will be dropped from classes if you miss 3 consecutive classes without communicating.

Yes, you must reside in the EISD boundary, and show proof of residency in order to enroll in classes.

No, but you must have some form of government-issued (US or Foreign) photo ID to test along with proof of Texas residency.

The program is completely free to you. EISD will provide curriculum and instructional materials, however, we will not cover the cost of exams.

No, both GED & the HiSET exam are offered in English and Spanish. EISD will offer a Spanish GED/HSE class.

You may be able to receive accommodations when taking the GED or HiSET test, there is an application process and proof of disability is required. For classes, we will provide reasonable accommodation upon request of the student.

Yes, for EISD’s program, all students must be 21 years of age or older to apply.

The cost is $145 for all 4 tests, OR you have the option to take each test individually for the price of $36.25 each. If you need to retest up to two times per content area within 12 months of your first test date, your second and third tests will be discounted at a retest price of $16.25 each. After the third attempt, test-takers MUST wait 60 days before they can test at the cost of $36.25.

Registration for the GED is completed online. Sign up for MyGED at www.GED.com and you will get information about local policies, how to request modified testing conditions (accommodations), and you’ll be able to schedule your test right then. When students are ready, our instructors will assist them with registering for their GED test.

You need to earn at least 145 points on each subject to pass, with a total score of 580.
