Emergency Management

alt-text

Everman ISD has implemented the Standardized Response Protocol (SRP), which provides a formal response to school-based emergencies. This classroom response enhancement is designed to help everyone involved communicate and respond effectively during critical incidents.

The Standard Response Protocol was developed by the "I Love U Guys" Foundation to help ensure student safety in educational settings. The SRP has been endorsed by the Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC), the Texas Education Agency (TEA), and the office of the Governor of the State of Texas.

Each school year, administrators, campus staff, and students receive SRP training and conduct SRP-based drills each semester and state-mandated fire drills to reinforce preparedness for emergencies. While the SRP does not replace school safety plans or programs, it does standardize the Everman ISD's approach to emergency management by providing consistent terminology and response actions during times of crisis.

The SRP is not based on specific scenarios but on how a response to any given situation will affect the overall risk. The SRP's standard language is essential because it helps to ensure that everyone involved in a school emergency is coordinated and understands each other. The SRP includes five actions: Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, Shelter, and Hold. These steps will be followed in a predictable order as an incident unfolds. Each action has its own specific set of staff and student directives that are specific to that action.

Take attendance and note the time upon arrival at the predetermined evacuation gathering point.

Notify campus officials of any attendance discrepancies.
