English as a Second Language (ESL)
English as a Second Language (ESL)
English as a Second Language (ESL) services are offered at all Everman ISD Elementary Campuses, grades PK-5. Students that are identified as English Learners (EL) upon registration are offered the option to participate in our ESL program.
In elementary, we follow an ESL/content-based program model. This model targets English language development through academic content instruction that is linguistically and culturally responsive in English language arts and reading, mathematics, science, and social studies. Our teachers are certified in second language acquisition theory, methodology, and strategies in preparation to instruct these classes.
The goal of content-based ESL is for English learners to attain full proficiency in English in order to participate equitably in school.
